While the second round of the premiership returns this week, the top three meeting between Heart of Lions and Hearts of Oak takes centre stage in the Glo Premier League. The in-form Phobians topping the chasing pack by a nine-point lead will travel to Kpando on Sunday as they seek to consolidate their position at the summit of the standings.

A 10-point gap separates both sides with Lions desirous of finding the form that once saw them sit at the top of the table. Lions have since seen their chances fade as they hold onto third place but are confident of putting the brakes on Kosta Papic's side.

Second-placed King Faisal will keep their chase on when they play struggling side, Real Tamale United at the Baba Yara Stadium. Champions Asante Kotoko, holed up in fourth place will be aiming to go one step better when they travel to the Swedru Park to play Gamba All Blacks. The Black Magicians would look to complete a league double over the champions after stunning the Porcupine Warriors 0-2 in the reverse game at the Baba Yara Stadium in the first round.

Asante Kotoko, whose hopes of successful title defence continues to look difficult would be keen to go for the three points against an All Blacks side fighting their way clear off the relegation zone. At the Sekondi Sports Stadium, Hasaacas, third from bottom will have their work cut out if they are to avoid a further drop when they take on Bechem Chelsea.

AshantiGold who finished the first round strongly despite still caught up in the drop zone will play seventh-placed side, Wa All Stars at the Len Clay Stadium.
Eleven Wise will visit the dreaded Golden City Park to play Arsenals who have remained unbeaten at home stretching over two seasons.

The Anane Boateng Park will host the game between Kessben FC and mid-table side Tema Youth.
Sporting Mirren, last on the table have a difficult job on their hands as their hopes of a second round revival starts with a game against Liberty Professionals at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

The Glo Premier League will this weekend witness a double-bill of derby day action on Sunday as games in Accra and Kumasi top the fixture pile. With the football family smarting from a productive three-day Fifa sponsored Com-Unity seminar, the premiership now takes up the centre stage.

An indifferent season for Asante Kotoko could further be tested as the Porcupine Warriors play host to Kessben FC in the regional derby at the Baba Yara Stadium. The defending champions, trailing the table toppers by 14 points have everything to play for to salvage their pride after losing the reverse fixture in Abrankese. The clash at the Baba Yara Stadium ideally could not have warranted such a hype but with Coach Bashiru Hayford, who guided the Reds to the title the past season now on the opposite side, there is everything to play for.

Hayford's return to club football coincided with Kotoko's impressive run and he holds one above his former side after Kessben beat their opponents for Sunday 1-0 in the first round fixture. Despite Kotoko's recent poor form and lying fourth on the table, the Porcupine Warriors are still capable of grinding out a result at home.

Then the impressive title chasers, Hearts of Oak who lead the standings by 11 points play against Liberty Professionals at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra. The Phobians are not playing with style but industry which has served them well under Kosta Papic. Then second-placed King Faisal travel to Wa to battle All Stars, a side difficult to beat at home.

At the Sekondi Sports Stadium, Eleven Wise would host welcome Heart of Lions. Real Tamale United would attempt to climb out of the bottom three when they host Gamba All Blacks to the Tamale Sports Stadium. In Tema, Tema Youth play Berekum Arsenals while Chelsea would be at home to relegation threatened Ashantigold at the Coronation Park in Sunyani.

The battle to avoid the drop begins on Saturday at the Ohene Djan Stadium where Sporting Mirren play Hasaacas who are fourth from bottom.

With the premier league title chase looking to have gone out the window completely for champions Asante Kotoko, much would still be expected from the club's newly appointed coach Herbert Addo.

The former Hearts of Oak coach took over reins at the club on Thursday from Isaac Opeele Boateng who has struggled to lead the Porcupine Warriors after some disappointing results in the Glo Premier League which has seen the Reds drop 9th on the table. Herbert Addo's first task will be to stem a string of poor results after a winless run of six games including losing three of their last four games.

And his first challenge comes up at the Sekondi Sports Stadium where Kotoko play away this Sunday to Eleven Wise on match-day-20. The prospects of Kotoko ending that poor streak and claiming their first win of this second round could spark a reaction from the players to give the new manager a positive start. But against an Eleven Wise side that claimed a famous 2-1 victory over the Reds in the first round, Kotoko could return to Kumasi after the evening kick off game without a win.

Leaders, Hearts of Oak have seen their lead at the top cut to nine points after drawing three consecutive games in the lead. The Phobians would attempt to change the tide this weekend when they welcome Tema Youth to Ohene Djan Stadium.

Berekum Arsenals have enjoyed the longest unbeaten home run in the top flight league spanning over two seasons. The Gunners' record faces a threat when All Stars visit the dreaded Golden City Park.

At the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, King Faisal will battle Liberty Professionals who have been disappointing this season won five of their 19 games and lost seven on the road. Heart of Lions host Real Tamale United at the Kpando Park while Kessben FC, unbeaten at home have Chelsea visiting the Anane Boateng Stadium.

The battle to avoid relegation continues at two centres as four clubs caught up in the search for survival play for honours. Gamba All Blacks, third from the basement play bottom side Sporting Mirren at the Swedru Park in a relegation battle. Another encounter between teams caught up in the drop zone comes off at the Len Clay Stadium where AshantiGold host Sekondi Hasaacas.

Nine games to wrap up the league and the weekend has the biggest game on the domestic footballing calendar coming up on Sunday. Back from a fourteen-day break, the action in Glo Premier League continues to gather pace as the title race still remains open despite the leaders, Hearts of Oak have opened a nine-point game at the top. But the Phobians' hopes to seeing the title return to the capital, Accra would be tested as defending champions, Asante Kotoko visit the Ohene Djan Stadium to play their rivals in the biggest game of the weekend and the second round of the league.

Hearts hold out a thirteen-point gap ahead of their rivals, who after a tottering period to the start of the second round appear to have rediscovered their form under new coach, Herbert Addo. The two sides will be meeting for the 47th time in Accra with Kotoko's victory over Hearts at the Ohene Djan Stadium coming in 1993. Despite the 16-year period of no wins, the Porcupine Warriors claim they are hopeful of ending their misery against the runaway leaders.

Hearts won the corresponding fixture in Kumasi and Papic is confident they can pick three points on Sunday too but expects the club's fans to create a magnificent atmosphere for their big game. Aside the biggest match coming up in Accra, second-placed Heart of Lions take on Chelsea at the Kpando Park. Lions would be seeking to pile the pressure on Hearts with their hopes of another Champions League football on the cards.

AshantiGold's impressive climb to safety would be further tested when they play away to King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. After two successive defeats, All Stars would seek to bounce back when they travel to the Sekondi Sports Stadium to Eleven Wise. Tema Youth would at home to Real Tamale United while Arsenals play bottom side Sporting Mirren at the Golden City Park. There is drama at the top and bottom as the battle for the league title and relegation dog-fight become intriguing with five matches to end the Glo Premier League.

Eight clubs-Sporting Mirren, Hasaacas, Gamba All Blacks, Liberty Professionals, Kessben FC, AshantiGold and Real Tamale United are battling the drop. All the probable relegation candidates, Sporting Mirren have an unrealistic chance of staying in the topflight. But their experienced coach Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie is not given up the fight yet as his side still has a mathematical chance of staying up.

The debutants have another difficult task at Kumasi as they play as guest sof in-form Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara stadium on Sunday. Mirren have 19 points from 25 matches. Only four points separate Kotoko and leaders Hearts and a slip by any could prove disastrous for their title ambitions. Elsewhere, Hearts of Oak new coach Nii Noi Thompson is beginning to feel the pressure barely a week after taken charge of the club.

The former Bechem Chelsea and Liberty Professionals coach has remained winless in two matches replacing Serbian trainer Kosta Papic. Another inauspicious result against All Stars at the Ohene Djan stadium on Sunday could prove further cripple their title wining intentions. All Stars suffered an ego battering defeat at home against Real Tamale United.

But Coach Nii Noi Thompson and his backroom staff are aware they cannot compromise on any other result apart from a comprehensive win to placate their suffering fans. The ego of Real Tamale United has been bloated after triumphing in the northern regional derby last Wednesday at Wa. They return to the Tamale stadium to play as guest of Bechem Chelsea. Tema Youth face Liberty Professionals at the Tema Park.

The Tema based club go into the encounter without head coach Attila Sekerlioglu who left the club after their 1-0 home defeat to Chelsea. The fortunes of the Dansoman based club has improved in recent matches and a win for them could see them leapfrog Tema Youth on the standings of the league table. Hearts of Lions cannot afford any more slips when they tackle AshantiGold at Kpando.

Miners coach David Duncan has produced magic in the second half of the league helping the club to a 10th place on the table. Arsenals battle King Faisal at the Golden City Park in Berekum. The Gunners are still in the hunt for a fourth place finish despite recent unimposing results. They lost to AshGold 2-0 at the Len Clay stadium in their last premier league encounter and drew at home with lowly-placed Hasaacas at their fortress.

The Sekondi host the derby between Eleven Wise and troubled Hasaacas. Wise suffered a 1-2 defeat at the Carl Reindorf Park against Liberty Professionals while Hasmal produced a come -back display to hold Lions in an enthralling 2-2 draw.
